About Me

My name is Steffanie.  I live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband and two cats.  As this blog title would suggest, yes, I have a daily never ending battle trying to tame my frizzy curly hair that seems to expand to greater levels in any new climate.

I have many things in my life that I am passionate about and one that goes back a couple of decades is photography. When I was little, my grandma used to save her national geographic magazines for me and I would pour over the photos.  I taped up my favorites in my closet and promised I would visit those places.  I chose a career in international development specifically research and data analytics which has given me the opportunity to travel to some of those places (my bucket list is still really long).  One of my favorite souvenirs to bring back is a cookbook and food (if permitted).

I am also your typical pacific northwestern native because when I am not at work, you can find me in the mountains hiking, backpacking, or snowshoeing.  My current project ended at work (a constant worry in the grant based world), so I renovated my old photography site from 2006 and made it something for 2017. This blog is to share travel advice, hiking suggestions, showcase photos for purchase, and share recipes from my favorite cookbooks.

I hope you enjoy a look into some of my favorite things in this world and inspires you to reach outside your comfort zone.
